Dak is designed as a plush duck with a small voice device inside, and we are building it as an AI learning companion for kindergartens in Malaysia. It is designed to talk with children aged 4 to 6 in Mandarin, English and Malay: chatting, bedtime stories, short songs and small games, and help with homework that starts with the child working things out, for example by counting on fingers. Each duck is linked to one child. If a parent or guardian has agreed, a teacher's short notes about the child's day reach the duck, so it can bring them up at home, and parents can read the day's conversations on their own page. We designed the duck's character voice with ElevenLabs Voice Design, which creates a voice from a written description. It was not cloned from a recording of any person or child. ElevenLabs' Prohibited Use Policy (elevenlabs.io/use-policy) requires its written approval for products aimed at people under 18, and we asked ElevenLabs for that approval on 18 October 2026. ElevenLabs support has since closed that ticket and asked us to take the request to its enterprise team, and on 24 October 2026 we submitted the request through ElevenLabs' sales contact form; no approval has been given. ElevenLabs is not yet connected to the duck's server. Until ElevenLabs gives written approval, we use this voice only for internal testing and for demonstrations to adults, such as kindergarten operators and partners, outside the conversation pipeline a child would hear; no device linked to a child uses it. Only the duck's own short reply sentences, sent one sentence at a time. It does not receive the recording of the child's voice or the child's side of the conversation. The recording of what the child says goes to Groq, a cloud AI provider in the United States, for speech recognition, and our server does not keep the recording after that step. The kindergarten registers each duck to one child and gives the family a private link to their parent page. The first time a parent or guardian opens it, they see the consent page, which explains what data is used and lists every service that processes it.幼儿园把每只达克登记给一个孩子，并把家长页的专属链接交给这个家庭。家长或监护人第一次打开链接时，会先看到同意页，页面说明会用到哪些资料，并列出处理这些资料的每一项服务。

Until a parent or guardian agrees, no kindergarten notes reach the duck and no conversation is saved. Even without consent, what the child says still has to go through the speech and conversation services for the duck to answer, so if a parent does not want this, the child should not use the duck. A parent or guardian can withdraw at any time from the “Privacy and consent” link on their page. The duck stops receiving the child's kindergarten notes at once, conversations stop being saved, and the saved conversations are deleted. Copies in daily backups and server logs are removed on their normal schedule (up to 14 and 7 days). The teacher's daily notes are not deleted on withdrawal: they are kept as the kindergarten's records on the Dak Duck server, and there is no automatic deletion period for them yet.
